Bricolage project: Due Tuesday
I have couple of ideas - using all the pages of my notebook, however in what form, I
don't know. I'm thinking of maybe making them into curtains that I can hang on a curtain rod. Or make some type of frame for them and stack them. Basically, I need to do some writing about what exactly this wil be, but at this moment I'm thinking of seeing it as my thoughts in 3D or Steve Ross's syllabus or Theory.
Any suggestions? He said he wanted us to do justice to this - to bring life into it.
its all about Zound objects, right? are you the object? his class? him? the physical pages? all oZ it? have a clear idea about what exactly you are taking Zrom your pages Zor the project...you know? what's the most important thing...the ideas on the page or the idea oZ the page? but i'll talk to you...my mind is swirling and i have to go into work today in 30 min. and just sit there till opening at 4, answering the telephone. i'm bringing my computer and book. and costumeesque dress. i'm not allowed to wear a costume...but i'm still going to be Zestive at least! love you and i'll talk to you probably while i'm there doing nothing!
ReplyDeleteyou're right. I need to be clear - so, the words on the page are the found objects. the idea of these regular words that we use everyday are finally being explored through discussions. I am not exactly sure how I am making sense of this - we have to make something and post about it - so I think I am going to rip out all the pages lay them in a long long strip and tape them all together - with clear tape - so it looks laminated kind of - and then with a sharpie make this strip into a tape measure - so our first day is one inch - then as our exploration goes further it is one foot - two feet - three feet.....i will have to write about it to truly understand my bricolage
ReplyDeletethank you for your comments LOVE YOU
i think that is a super neat idea. i don't know how the class has progressed or how your notebook Zollows the discussions but i like the idea oZ time stretching and squishing....to say that sometimes you were writing super quickly because people were throwing out ideas so quickly or whatever and the discussion was quick and maybe other times when time seemed to slow down and steve was practically pulling teeth to get you guys to say something...maybe your measurements show this shit?? (aren't your classes usually sort oZ slow at the beginning?)
ReplyDeleteother ideas: explore how "deep" or "shallow/trivial" the discussions were or became...did you take notes about everything or you Ziltered only what you thought mattered to you---how can you incorporate your Zilter into the scale? what is an ongoing concept/theory/word (i.e.architecture?) in the class?...can that be used as some sort oZ meter or marker b/c it pops up regularly in every discussion? how do the size and scale oZ the Zollowing relate to eachother and determine how the notes were written: your hand, the physical page, your writing, your lap/desk. did your mind ever wander in class and you missed something? could you have gaps or break lines in your scale to indicate this? ...
i guess i'm taking the idea oZ you using a physical measurement/means to indicate a non physical thing. bricolaging abstract into something concrete--and how it can get bigger and smaller and doesn't just have to go Zrom inches > Zeet but Zrom inches > Zeet > centimeters > miles > kilometers ...in 3d maybe too...latitude/longitude/altitude? maybe words or concepts could match up with coordinates on an abstract scale. and how is time tied in? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.....sorry Zor my mind jumping out oZ my head and splattering all over this comment! not that answering the phone, handing out candy, hostessing...everything here i've been doing...has been challenging my brain or anything. GOD! love you and hope this helps. you're still a Zully Zunctional Zilter so just strain through this comment and leave yourselZ with what's leZt.
